Stone veneer calculation breakdown

Net wall area

Gross wall area minus doors, windows, and other excluded openings.

Corner credit

Outside corner linear footage replaces an editable amount of flat veneer area.

Veneer packages

Flat area and corner length are increased by waste and rounded to full product packages.

Mortar

Net veneer area plus waste is divided by the entered mortar-system coverage per bag.

The calculation

Flat veneer = net wall area minus corner coverage

Flat boxes = ceiling(((gross area − openings − corner flat-area credit) × (1 + waste)) ÷ flat coverage per box)

  • Outside corner pieces are measured in linear feet and replace an editable amount of flat area.
  • Flat and corner package coverage must come from the exact veneer product.
  • Mortar coverage should match the substrate, layer, joint style, and complete scope being estimated.
  • All material quantities round up to full retail packages.

Manufactured corner pieces wrap an outside corner and replace some flat veneer area. The conversion varies by profile and manufacturer, so the calculator keeps the flat-area credit per linear foot editable.

03How much extra stone veneer should I order?+

Extra material covers cutting, trimming, breakage, blending, tight-fit layouts, and future repairs. Manufacturer guidance often recommends a visible allowance, but the correct percentage depends on the selected product and installation.

04How many boxes of stone veneer do I need?+

Enter the actual flat square-foot coverage and corner linear-foot coverage printed for the selected product. The calculator rounds waste-adjusted quantities up to full packages.

05How many bags of veneer mortar do I need?+
